Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
Is This You?
Do you feel uncomfortable about excess hanging skin on your upper arms? Are you self-conscious about your “bat wings”? If so, then body contouring procedures like arm lifts may be able to help you get the smooth, youthful-looking skin you want.
Arm Lifts
Brachioplasty, or arm lifts, are a very good procedure for getting rid of “bat wings” – the excess hanging skin in the upper arms. This hanging skin may be due to either weight loss or to changes in the skin that can lead to a loss of elasticity. This loose hanging skin does not respond well to exercise, improved skin care, or even skin tightening treatments. An arm lift is the only really effective treatment for bat wings. Fortunately, a brachioplasty is a very effective treatment, and women who have the procedure look and feel younger and much more confident in any outfit that displays their upper arms.
The Arm Lift Procedure
In an arm lift procedure, excess skin and fat is surgically removed from the upper arm. The remaining skin is tightened and sutured to give a smooth, taut upper arm. If there is excess fat in your upper arms, it can be removed at this time using liposuction, surgical excision, or sometimes both. If you have been exercising in an attempt to improve your upper arms, you will have noticed little improvement, even though you have worked hard to firm the arms. The reason for your lack of success is because there is no muscle in the skin and fat, therefore skin and fat do not respond to exercise. Immediately after having a brachioplasty, which takes around 2 hours, you will notice improvement in the size, shape and tightness of your arm.
In most cases, you should count on taking one week off from work for recovery. It may be several weeks before you can return to a strenuous exercise routine. However, the results are immediately visible, and are very long-lasting.
