Dr. William Owen joined the practice in 1990, after completing his training in plastic surgery at the University of Alabama. Following his residency in general surgery, he was attracted to the artistic aspect of plastic surgery. An accomplished wood carver, he found in plastic surgery a life calling that enabled him to marry the highly technical, precise nature of cosmetic procedures with his innate eye for form, proportions, and aesthetics.
Dr. Owen has received board certifications in general surgery, hand surgery, and plastic surgery. He recertified in hand and plastic surgery in 2003 and again in 2014 in cosmetic plastic surgery. He yearly exceeds the requirements for continuing medical education and with the skeptical eye of a surgeon, seeks out the newest, cutting edge procedures, to offer only those found effective, to his patients.
Dr. Owen is active in the Dothan community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Alabama-Florida Council of Boy Scouts of America. He has served as president of the council and received the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, the council’s highest honor bestowed on civilian volunteers. He is an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity and has served on its vestry.
Dr. Owen has served leadership roles at Flower’s Hospital. He has served multiple terms as chief of surgery and most recently, chief of staff. Married, the father of four sons, Dr. Owen is well aware of the demands made on your time, the unique circumstances that can impact your surgery, and will strive to educate you to promote a successful recovery.
