Have you begun to notice that your skin is growing loose and beginning to sag? Has your face had too much sun, which causes pre cancerous lesions or pigment irregularities of the skin? Does your skin look thin and dull? Do you have numerous fine wrinkles all over your face? If so, then laser skin resurfacing may be able to help you to get a younger, more vigorous appearance. Laser skin resurfacing stimulates your skin's natural rejuvenation process, to restore its youthful appearance and help prevent skin cancers.
This page contains some basic information about laser skin resurfacing, but to learn whether laser skin resurfacing is the right treatment for you, please schedule a consultation at the Feagin & Owen Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center today.
At the Feagin & Owen Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center, we offer two different types of laser skin resurfacing: CO2 laser skin resurfacing and Fraxel fractional resurfacing. Laser skin resurfacing is used to treat:
CO2 laser skin resurfacing has long been used to rejuvenate the facial appearance. By removing the dead, dull outer layers of your skin which have been damaged by the sun, smoking and/or the environment this treatment stimulates your skin's natural rejuvenation process. The treatment with a CO2 laser requires about ten days of healing before applying makeup. Once healing is complete, your face will look years younger. Also, it helps prevent the development of skin cancers. the results are months or even years of smoother, more youthful looking skin with just one treatment.
The Fraxel Laser works by creating numerous tiny wells in the skin that reach down into the deeper layers of skin to stimulate the skin's healing response. Fraxel is a good compromise for people who desire significant improvement in their skin without the long healing time. There is essentially no healing time and minimal post-op treatment pain with the Fraxel laser. Fraxel requires several treatments to get maximum results, but does not require any time off work. The Fraxel laser is the best of the minimally invasive lasers.
Laser skin resurfacing is just one of many methods for combating the signs of facial aging. Instead of laser skin resurfacing, you might be a good candidate for facial peels or other skin care treatments. You may also do better with targeted wrinkle treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers.
Sometimes surgical treatments may be recommended, such as eyelid surgery and facelift surgery. During your consultation, we will talk to you about your facial rejuvenation options and the benefits and drawbacks of each so that you can make an informed decision.
Laser skin resurfacing, especially CO2 resurfacing, can be a powerful tool for facial rejuvenation when used properly. However, to get the best results, you need to work with a surgeon whose training and experience help him to determine whether you are an optimal candidate for this treatment.
Dr. Charles Feagin and Dr. William Owen have been performing CO2 laser skin resurfacing since it was first introduced around 15 years ago. When it was proving that a non-invasive laser like the Fraxel would significantly improve facial skin quality, Dr. Feagin and Dr. Owen purchased a Fraxel laser and brought that to the Dothan area.
Dr. Charles Feagin and Dr. William Owen are board-certified plastic surgeons who have tried many different types of lasers and other skin treatments. They have learned how to get the best results from this and other treatments in their 50 years of combined experience serving their neighbors in and around Dothan, Alabama; Columbus, Georgia, and Panama City, Florida. They can help you get the results you desire whether you have laser skin resurfacing or a plastic surgery procedure.
